Laparoscopic Gastric Banding
The objective of a Laparoscopic Gastric Band surgery is to make a person get rid of excess weight in order to deal with other chronic health problems. It is a Minimal Invasive weight loss surgery. The doctor places an implant during the surgery which is a soft silicon ring with an expandable balloon in the centre. It is tied around the top part of the stomach, creating a two-compartment stomach. It is placed in order to restrict the food intake which further enhanced the weight loss process.
If a person is suffering from obesity and facing other health problems like diabetes, heart issues, osteoarthritis, sleepapnea or at high blood pressure with a BMI greater than 40, then the doctor may suggest for Laparoscopic Gastric Banding.
Though the Laparoscopic Gastric Banding is a safe and a minimal invasive surgery, a doctor may not suggest this surgery if a patient is suffering from:
- End stage cardiac issues
- Major psychiatric disorder
- Intestinal disorder
- Substance abuse
