Back Pain Management
Pain after any surgery is a common post-op issue. The pain after the spine surgery is very well managed with a combination of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID’s) and pain killers. The pain-killers will be prescribed for one week following the discharge from the hospital. It is always advised to take your medicine as prescribed without any fail in order to properly heal. The doses of medication is reduced gradually with depreciating pain, beginning with your pain killers, as this will help reduce a flare up of symptoms.
Ice pack gives fast relief from pain when applied to then back during the first few days after surgery. Be careful not to apply the ice directly to the skin as it can cause an ‘ice burn’.
